Most famous Bordeaux wines according to Chinese internet users
Bordeaux Wines on the Chinese Wikipedia
“Wines and the Chinese internet” is a huge topic which deserves a global analysis which I am already working on. Today I just wanted to show you an internet page which can give us information on the most famous Bordeaux wines according to Chinese internet users.
Baidu (百度), the “Chinese Google” hosts the “Chinese Wikipedia” called Baike (百科) which is exactly the same as wikipedia but in Chinese. I wanted to know what information about wine Chinese people could find on this encyclopedia. So I had fun typing different brands and names of wines. I discovered that when typing “Chateau” Baidu just suggested a list of different Chateaux of Bordeaux. As you might have already experimented, when you are searching on Google, the search engine helps you by suggesting words for you which are frequently typed. On Baidu it’s the same, it gave a list of frequently typed expressions beginning with “Chateau”:
Here is the list of Bordeaux Wines:
Chateau Mouton Rothschild (Premier Cru Classé (First Growth) – 1855 classification)
Château Haut Brion (Premier Cru Classé (First Growth) – 1855 classification)
Château Latour (Premier Cru Classé (First Growth) – 1855 classification)
Château Cheval Blanc (Premier Grand Cru Classé (A) – Saint Emilion classification)
Château La Tour Carnet (Quatrièmes Crus (Fourth Growths) 1855 classification)
Château Margaux (Premier Cru Classé (First Growth) – 1855 classification)
Château Ausone (Premier Grand Cru Classé (A) – Saint Emilion classification)
Château Lascombes (Seconds Crus (Second Growths)- 1855 classification)
Château Talbot (Quatrièmes Crus (Fourth Growths) 1855 classification)
Château Leoville Las Cases (Seconds Crus (Second Growths)- 1855 classification)
*Lafite does not appear in the list because it is recorded at “Lafite” and not “Chateau Lafite”. It shows how the Chinese consider Lafite more a wine brand than a Chateau producing wine. It is the same for Petrus.

Buying en primeur reviewed
Is buying en primeur actually a good deal?
t certainly can be, but much depends on the vintage, your allocations and on available alternative wine investment strategies.
